Sixteen months after his first exhibition in Paris ('Burning Hearts' in November 2010), the famous graffiti artist Cope2 presents New York for the second time in Paris. MathGoth proposed by the gallery, the exhibition 'Defiance' meet from February 18 to March 1 works of an international graffiti legends whose work, not settle down, now combines the techniques of graffiti with the dexterity of brush or collages.
No denial in the work of Cope2: the king with his bubbles markers and bombs remains at the heart of each of the paintings but with new spaces and new technology investment. A real change in his work already begun in his first exhibition in Paris 'Burning Hearts', in November 2010, when appeared the first signs of a burgeoning style.
Now focusing on studio work, more thorough, deeper Cope2 this for a very accomplished performance. Exit the metro line 4 in New York debut, the canvas is now her favorite material, which contributes to the accessibility of the artist in the defying paradox of street art. Cope2 has become a real painter workshop with the rigor and torments involved.

As she nervously navigates herself through dark Los Angeles streets, she is overcome with terror. The real threat, however, does not come from the streets...

Just like the fixed-winged aircraft the posse name takes after, New Orleans' young bred, Trademark Da Skydriver and Young Roddy, are propelled with high-powered raps with equipped majestic instrumentation, noted to best enhance a listener indulging herbal dosage to sky altitude. They were introduced to the game by the head pilot, Curren$y, and his Jets International imprint, but after quickly showing that they can steer their own plane, the two generals did just that - complimenting each other’s solo personalities on tracks.
Though they're solo acts in their own rights, the duo make their lasting impression on the Curren$y-featured track, 'Roasted'. However, the trio can be traced back to the Young Money days, along with Trademark's 'Super Villain' mixtape series. Their official collaborative effort, 'Jet Life To The Next Life' debuted with Spanish production crew Cookin' Soul, and the two youngsters continued to showcase their glow on this year's 35-city 'Smoker's Club Tour' with Method Man, Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T., and more.
I got the pleasure to join the boys fresh after the release concert of their most recent Jet Life family compilation effort, 'Jet World Order'. Trademark and Roddy took time out to chat about the basic background origin of The Jet Set and the distinctive class of beats the crew rhymes on. They even recall the time a classic New Orleans' Soulja Slim record came out. Of course the two indulged in my randomness, and I even struck a cord and got Trademark to talk about his love for comic books.
MSNBC, CNN and TheGrio.com's Goldie Taylor and New Orleans rapper, Dee-1, hit the streets of Los Angeles in preparation for BarackTalk 2012 to discuss voting in the 2012 Election, the President's upcoming State of the Union address, and what are the important issues in the streets.
At a recent event dedicated to Obey, David Gallardo was able to catch up with the world famous man behind the brand, Shepard Fairey. While clothing is a rapidly expanding and still relatively new venture for Fairey, it seems he has a solid grasp creatively of where he thinks Obey is and where it ought to be. During the interview he offers up words of wisdom in that while all fashion designers look to one another for trends, at the end of the day collections are and should be filtered through ones own sensibilities. On a less philosophical note he discusses things like his love for food trucks and his perennial musical interest in the first Clash album, all of which contribute to a light-hearted yet insightful discussion.
That’s All We Need explores more of the experimental, electronic, and organic mediums used by the group on previous releases. However, this release is a departure in a few ways. First, unlike the others, it is completely sample-free. Also, all three prior albums were released within just days of their conception through a process described by the group as “binging out.” This process is characterized by extensive, often times, gruelling writing and recording of the music and intense collaboration within a short period of time. Initially, the tracks for 'That’s All We Need' were created the very same way- over a five day writing and recording binge. But after the binge, the group continued crafting the songs individually and in smaller groups for about a month and a half. More collaboration on the tracks came through file sharing over the Internet, a method not foreign to the quartet. “We’ve traded files over the Internet for much of The Biz albums with Matt and Zach in Tennessee, and it’s become a more common method to keep the collaboration going” says Phil Buck, member of FHTB and Denver based group, The Biz.
'That’s All We Need' is also the first album to feature Matt Nigro, a.k.a. MattntheHat, a long-time collaborator, as the fourth and newest member of the production team. Matt was first introduced into FHTB in January 2010. As a partner to Zach Matthews, a.k.a. z.matt.33, Matt helped to continue the live performances in the Southeast. After Matt joined the other two-thirds of the team in Denver, 'It seemed like a natural move to add Matt to the mix,' says z.matt.33, who is currently the only FHTB member left in Nashville where the group was founded.
Fresh Hats Tight Beats hopes to be touring regionally again by the end of 2012. The group has not been performing live since Matt relocated to Denver, but have been focusing their efforts in the studio on other projects. Be on the lookout for news on their other musical endeavours, including new albums from The Biz, Studio-T, z.matt.33 and a project the team says is still top secret. z.matt.33 has been in the studio with Juan De Winslow working on his debut solo effort, due out in March.

On April 2nd 2011, LCD Soundsystem played its final show at Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had made the conscious decision to disband one of the most celebrated and influential bands of its generation at the peak of its popularity, ensuring that the band would go out on top with the biggest and most ambitious concert of its career. The instantly sold out, near four-hour extravaganza did just that, moving the thousands in attendance to tears of joy and grief, with NEW YORK magazine calling the event 'a marvel of pure craft' and TIME magazine lamenting 'we may never dance again.' 'SHUT UP AND PLAY THE HITS' is both a narrative film documenting this once in a life time performance and an intimate portrait of James Murphy as he navigates the lead-up to the show, the day after, and the personal and professional ramifications of his decision.
Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace.

We have been compiling various remixes from the 'Divergent Spectrum' tracklist, and decided to put together a free pack of a few favorites. Keep on the look out for other versions from a multitude of friends and artists as they drop out of various corners the digital sky.
Although it’s intended mostly for DJs (each track is on the harder edge of the spectrum, targeting dancefloors and flash mobs of bass heads who want to rage) we wanted to make it available to anyone and everyone, for free.
