Bounce Hits The Big Time

Peaches Record Shop, New Orleans, circa 2005

Bounce music is street-level hip-hop party music straight from New Orleans, with a unique and awesome energy that draws from the Mardi Gras Indian and second-line rhythms that still pump throughout the city. For the first time, the huge and influential South By Southwest music conference is hosting an official showcase of classic bounce, in March 2010.

Artists on the bill include:
DJ Jubilee
Katey Red
Big Freedia
Vockah Redu
Magnolia Shorty
Ms Tee

Bounce music has steadily influenced hip-hop in America since its inception in the late 80's, yet - as has been the case with dozens of influential New Orleans musicians - the artists who created it have barely reaped the benefits. Exposure at SXSW could jump-start the careers of these talented and deserving performers... and bring the spotlight back to a New Orleans music scene still struggling to find its footing after the floods of 2005.

SXSW is a networking showcase and doesn't pay for artist travel or lodging. We need help getting our artists to Austin to bring New Orleans bounce to the world.

Curren$y "24 Hour Karate School" (Trailer)

Anyone who knows this Collective personally can attest to the fact that we are HEAVY fans of Hova. However it seems that Dame Dash is slowly becoming the modern-day Andy Warhol and DD172 is quickly becoming reminiscent of the Factory.

The Art of Matt W. Moore

An ambitious creative spirit, MWM (Matt W. Moore) has traveled to Paris for one month to prepare, from scratch, for his first Paris Solo-Exhibition. He arrived with no art, no supplies, and no firm plan for this new series of canvas paintings. The ideas for the artworks have actualized while processing time spent absorbing French Culture, exploring the City Of Lights, the vibrant colors, the exaggerated geometry, and the diverse architecture and fashion of Paris.

These paintings were created entirely with spray paint, one of Matt's favorite mediums. But the designs are very clean, and appear almost digital in their precise details and craft. An honest, analog attempt to achieve the same depth and abstract geometry of his digital "Vectorfunk" style. The goal with each work is to have the viewers eye fall into the piece and get lost in the optical illusions, trying to figure out what is up, down, left, and right.

Paul Coudamy, a talented French architect, has designed a series of hand sculpted wooden sneakers for K-Swiss footwear company. The concept of Woodwalk is founded on a principle of distortion, a temporal contraction in which the Swiss country shoe of 19th century is crossed with the urban shoe of the 20th century.
