BBC1 Interviews Kanye West [Video]
Love him or hate him, Kanye West knocked it out of the park with every element of his polemical project, Yeezus. Listeners can touch and taste what he dubs "today's textures" without losing sight of the sample-heavy, drum-loaded and violin-laced sounds of 808s and Graduation. In his sit-down with Zane Lowe, he seems comfortable enough to be candid about not only his creative process, but also the cultural, political and social issues that contributed to the content of his newest creation.
At the same time, there are moments in which he sounds more like Phil Knight (not necessarily a plus) than Kanye West. As a brand owner, his obsessive aspirations are in some ways understandable, but the conundrums within his communication is enough to choke on.
Still, the discussion delves into a surplus of subjects and makes for a great break away from the norm.

Watch The Throne (Documentary) [Video]
Last July we featured a very brief snippet of what appeared to be at least the beginning of a behind the scenes look at the making of Watch The Throne, although the clip was quickly removed not long after initially hitting the internet. Now, over a year after the fact and one in which Jay-Z and Kanye West undoubteduly ruled the charts and concert venues around the globe, the ten minute take on how the duo made the controversial yet undeniably crafty album has surfaced. Whether or not you favor the flavor on the LP, no one can ignore the importance of the project, particularly in regards to production.

DJ M-Rock: Keys Over Kanye [Mixtape]
It’s a soul thing, a warm fuzzy feeling thing. A blend or mashup tape (unmixed), with two artists that match each other really well over the years. Her lovely vocals over soulful beats that he made in the beginning, and ones that were out just last year. I mean, 'You Don’t Know My Name' was crazy when it dropped under a decade back, the first song those two worked on together. It gives me a lot of pleasure to present this to yall – the songs work together so well, and I love listening to this kind of stuff. It’s just so relaxing, chill, intimate, goosebump-causing music. There’s almost nothing on the radio like this today. It’s really reminiscent of the College Dropout era of Mr. West. I really can’t think of much more to say, because I’m afraid to ruin the message the music already delivers. Enjoy something different from what I usually put out. I think it’s more simple than what I usually do, but just works so nicely. Hope you dig it.
