Zion I: The Masters of Ceremony [EP]

From Zumbi:

The Masters of Ceremony is the first EP in a series created to fortify the cultural aspects of Hip Hop. We took it back to ground zero in creating these songs. The sole purpose of the MC is to energize, invigorate, and guide the listener to a higher state of mind, whether that be reflection, relaxation or enlightenment. This is the culture and not the business of Hip Hop, to serve as a tuning fork to the emotions, that we may contemplate our current state collectively and forge our collective destiny with heightened perspective. A lot of people MC, but many have no idea what it really means.

The Grouch, Evidence, Zion I & Eligh: Amp Live For President [Video]

Z&G&E (Zion I, The Grouch and Eligh) and Evidence birthed a dope song and video this past month while on the road together! The guys just finished the extremely successful (mostly sold out) 19 city 'How The Grouch Stole Christmas Tour'.

'The response has been overwhelming and we just wanted to give the people a little gift for the holidays' says The Grouch about the free download.

Amp Live of Zion I made the beat and the song was complete when Evidence recorded his verse backstage at the Fox Theatre in Boulder Colorado. We shot the video at the venue right before our show in Sacramento. DJ Icewater did the cuts.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Kwanza or whatever it is you choose to celebrate!

Behind the music...

Although there are only a select few (Curren$y, for one) who have directly solicited the opinions of their most supportive fans by throwing listening parties prior to an album's release. After attending Zion I's listening party for their upcoming album Atomic Clock, it is obvious that this is the best route to really reach the heart of the fanbase. Held at The New Parish in Oakland, the party also featured appearances by Bang Data and Teeko (who just may have the fastest fingers in the West). Not to mention, after having met with each of the artists, we can honestly say that you would not meet a more humble and gracious group of guys. Be sure to scoop Atomic Clock, dropping November 9th.
