Aled Lewis: Pixel Art [Art]

You may remember our first Aled Lewis feature back in January, in which we highlighted his clever mash-up of well-known 8-bit characters and real-time photos, each reflective of their original, digital scenes. Now he has created a series of over-pixelated images, keeping true to his affinity for video game references, but blending them in a way that bends the social standard. Lesbian Chun-Li? Princess Monroe? Not to mention that Paperboy image made us want to run to the nearest pawn shop and cop a vintage NES right now.

The Museum Of Art & Digital Entertainment

This is a fantastic idea, and as longtime video gameaholics, we felt it extremely important to get the word out about this project. In the works is an idea for a video game museum in San Francisco, aptly named the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (MADE). It would house not only video game history and present little known facts about obscure games, but would also introduce new forms of interactive art to highlight the genius of the interactivity in console gaming. To prepare, a Kickstarter fund has been established to help raise money for initial costs.

The Art of Aled Lewis

UK artist Aled Lewis has playfully embedded popular video game characters in photos reminiscent of their digital scenes. Our two favorites, the Street Fighter and Mario Kart Koopa pieces, are shown above and below, respectively.
