In response to the overwhelming amount of quality music that becomes available daily, we've created the Soulection White Label series in (SWL) in a digital form. The series will highlight short 3-4 track EPs that really spotlight the true craftsmanship of each artist from some of the most forward-thinking creators worldwide. As our mission of breaking new artists and spreading music far and wide through our official releases continues, we present the White Label Series on Soundcloud only to expose as much talent as possible.
We are excited to announce the launch of the Soulection White Label series with who other than Lakim! The East coast-based producer masterfully blends the sound of tomorrow with the utmost of ease. Stay tuned for his forthcoming official release on Soulection in early 2014.

Upon hearing Daft Punk's brilliant new album, 'Random Access Memories', this past May, two of our favorite producers were immediately inspired. The Potholes Music duo of AbJo and LAKIM then quickly got to work on flipping a few of the standout cuts on the record to create the Random Access Remixes EP. These include epic closing track 'Contact', the Panda Bear-assisted 'Doin' It Right', and throwback synth-epic 'Touch.'
Each and every RAM tune selected by AbJo and LAKIM was meticulously chopped-up and reinterpreted into something entirely new. What's most impressive is how they both tackled 'Doin' It Right' with a completely different and refreshing approach. On one hand, you have AbJo's self-described 'Turn Up RMX' that transforms the laid-back jam into a shot of audio adrenaline. Moments later, LAKIM's flexing his love for G-funk on his 'Left Coast G-Mix', which is sure to stay in your summer rotation right alongside the original.

Our bond with Virginia producer LAKIM was sealed during the summer of 2012 when he contributed '1997' to our Cosmic Island compilation. From there, we kept a close eye on his work, including his collaborations with rapper Jean P. as part of Opposites Attract and his growing catalogue of remixes. We quickly asked LAKIM if he was down to release some projects through our imprint, Potholes Music, and so began a new relationship with the gifted producer.
While we talked about what we could release with him, LAKIM casually dropped a flip of Erykah Badu’s 'On & On' that left us needing more. With the knowledge that he had other remixes under his belt, we all agreed that it was time to drop an EP showcasing his footwork/juke-oriented flips. And just like that, Reinterpretations was born. The six-track release compiles LAKIM’s shuffling, addictive takes on cuts like 'On & On', Justin Timberlake’s 'Like I Love You', and a deft blend of Jill Scott’s 'So Gone' and Bun B’s verse on 'Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)'.

Esoteric is about me just tapping into a new sound. Trying different styles out. It literally means to be understood by a selected few.
