DJ Icewater and Jern Eye let loose of an oldie but goodie.

As a kid, my Mom and Dad played a lot of these Mizell Brothers-produced jams around the crib so I just wanted to do a mix that they could rock with. A lot of these tunes have been heavily sampled over the years (if you listen close enough, you'll notice that I reference a few of the joints that do so) but most importantly, I REALLY love these songs because they're dope in their own right. This mix was originally done in July '08, so if you've heard it before it's all good. If you haven't though, I suggest you download it with the quickness.
Happy 2013 Everyone......
This is our first mix post on our Mixcrate page for 2013. 2012 was a pretty busy year for us because of our 20 year anniversary, so we haven't had time to really post any old or new mixes up. Well, for 2013, we'll try to do better this time and be consistent on putting up classic mixes and of course, new ones.
Our first mix to post up is a classic cassette mixtape by the Bum Rush Brothers aka J.Rocc & Babu, entitled 'World Famous Joints' Volume 2. This is made during the mid-late 90's era when the Golden Era of Independent Hip Hop was going down; when mixtapes were litterally still made on 4-tracks, vinyl, & cassette tapes. This is also during the time that Babu, J.Rocc, Rhettmatic & Nu-Mark (Jurassic 5) were still working at the Fat Beats LA store on Melrose. A lot of classic artists & groups were featured on this mix, such as KRS-1, DITC, Gangstarr, & as well as future classic artists: Dilated Peoples, Lootpack, & Slum Village.
Peep out this classic mixtape to get that classic raw vibe of the 90's. This mixtape is purely for the real Beat Junkie fans & hip hop afficinados......Enjoy.
This mix is a tribute to one of my biggest influences in hip-hop and one of the greatest producers of all time. It contains an hour's worth of Large Pro beats and rhymes, original samples, and special blends, covering his career from his debut single up to his latest album and shining the spotlight on some of his lesser-known work. The Professor definitely schools people with his music; this is my take on his curriculum vitae.
