After penning what is essentially a Dear John letter to fans, Bahwee released his latest album, Sketches. Unfamiliar with the artist and, more important, naive to the reasons behing the apology, we were of course propelled to go find Flavors, for comparative purposes if nothing else. What we heard were two very compelling arguments that Bahwee is an amazingly talented sound craftsman, but has many sides to show. The two projects, Flavors and Sketches, are equally as good, yet the latter focuses more on the opposite side of the former, forcing fans to finetune their ears in a way that may at first seem foreign. Given time, hopefully each will be appreciated as a reflection of the other.
